Deploying Cloud Servers using vCloud Director Private Cloud

categoery: Cloud

With access to Krypt Private Cloud services you can create as many virtual machines as you need within your allocated Resource Pool. You can deploy virtual machines from our Public Catalog or upload your own ISO to deploy a virtual machine. For access to Windows templates you will need to purchase the Bulk Windows License Pack which your Krypt Account Manager can add for you.

1. Access Krypt Private vCloud Director by following the instructions in KB: http://kb.krypt.com/article/227

2. Click on My Cloud tab and vApps, then click on the + sign to add a new vApp

3. Browse through our extensive library of templates for the OS you wish to deploy. Pick the data center location nearest to you for faster deployment of the template.

4. Run through the wizard to create a name for the vApp and set the lease timers to Never Expire unless there is a specific reason why you want it to end such as a demo or test server.

5. Choose the IP Pool most relevant to your location. The system will automatically assign a free IP address to your server.

Choose this next option to ensure your VM gets assigned the same IP address every time unless deleted.

6. Click through and finish the the wizard to start the deployment of that template. Larger OS files take longer to copy and deployments can range from 10 - 20 minutes.

7. Once the vApp has been deployed you can configure individual virtual machine settings by going to the VMs section and searching for the VM. Go to the Properties menu by right clicking on the VM.

8. In the next tabs you will be able to set the number of vCPU's and Memory the VM is assgined.

9. Ensure that the VM is set to Enable Guest Customization, uncheck the Change SID (should be unchecked by default), Check Require Administrator to change password at next login unless you wish for the system to randomly assign a new root or administrator login each time the VM is powered on / off or reset.

10. Assign any CPU and Memory limits here. Leaving the selection to Unlimited will allow the VM to use all the resources in your Resource Pool allocation.

The VM will then be configured the first time the system boots up with all these settings. You can always power down the VM and set the password change feature to reset the super user password on the VM or make resouce allocation changes.
